Having been in business for almost 7 years, Lucca Bar & Grill has found what Benicia was looking for:  An establishment with a friendly atmosphere, great food and drinks, and lasting friendships. We are proud of the fact that our clientele includes locals of all walks of life as well as visitors to Benicia.  Lucca is owned and operated by Jan Lucca, a third generation Benician and his wife Carol.

Here at Lucca we offer Gastro-Pub Style cuisine.  We offer a full service bar,  with an extensive cocktail menu using seasonal fresh fruits and herbs.  We offer 20 beers on draft that we like to rotate from time to time to keep things exciting.  In addition, we offer 35 beers by the bottle, from domestic to craft.  5 of these are 22 oz craft beers.  For the wine lovers, we offer 38 wines in an array of varietals.  Of the 38, 33 come by the glass.  A majority of our wines are from right here in California.

Michael Robertson- Executive Chef

Michael comes to Lucca with 24 years of restaurant experience. He began his journey in the industry at the age of 16.  His first restaurant job was with his father.  Michael graduated from the culinary Academy in 2002.  Since then he has held several titles:  Chef de Cuisine at Cafe Kati (San Francisco), Assistant Chef de Cuisine at Jordan’s Restaurant (Berkeley, Claremont Hotel), Sous Chef at Caprice Restaurant (Tiburon), Chef at Vino Teca (Danville), Executive Chef at Bin 38 (San Francisco) which brought him here to us in November of 2012 as our Executive Chef.  Michael specializes in Gastro pub Style Cuisine.  Michael enjoys working with local farms and sustainable produce all within 400 mile of the restaurant. He keeps our menu unique to the season.  His true passion comes from helping individuals to expand their palates by experiencing an organic and seasonal menu.

Sonya Battersby – General Manager

Sonya comes to Lucca with 20 years of experience in the bar and restaurant business. Having started her journey in southeastern Wisconsin, she moved here to finish her college degree at Sacramento State with a major in criminal justice and a minor in business. Upon arriving in California she met Jan Lucca, then owner of O’Leary’s Irish Pub, and after a short time of bartending, she became manager and transitioned to the GM role at Lucca.  Sonya enjoys choosing the beers and wines on our menus.  Whether you are a beer or wine person you will always find a nice glass or bottle of wine or beer that accompanies our food dishes. Her vast knowledge in mixology is used to create our house cocktails, and recently she has decided to take the cocktails in a new direction and create seasonal ones as well.
